A loan of $450 helped to restock a general store and start a sewing business.

Flor De Maria's story

Flor De Maria F. T. has a general store in a rural suburb of Pucallpa, Ucayali. From the store she built onto her house, she sells fruit, vegetables, candies, sodas, oil, sugar, eggs, and much more. Flor has a good location in a safe neighborhood with little competition.

Flor is 49 years old with 6 children and is happily married. Flor manages her shop and takes care of her family while her husband has a business raising chickens. She is happy to have an income and help provide for her family. Because of the business, she has a better relationship with her neighbors, is better known in the community, and is more independent.

A member of the community bank Las Lumbreras, Flor is requesting a loan of s/1200 (US$ 450) to repay over 6 months. She would like to use the loan to restock her shop and buy cloth to start a business making clothes, bed covers, and pillow covers. She is an excellent seamstress.
