To help meet the different needs of the family, Patricia Josette has been selling hair extensions, cosmetics, and liquor in her district for eight years. Secondarily, she sells shoes and cloth. This business enables her to support herself without much trouble. She gets her supplies from Benin and from Lomé.

Seeking to satisfy her customers and to increase her sales and her revenues, Patricia Josette, along with the other members of the group CONFIANCE, is requesting a third loan from ALIDé. The first two loans were indeed repaid.

Le groupe CONFIANCE est composé de trois personnes qui résident dans le même quartier. C'est la troisième fois que ce groupe sollicite l'aide financier de ALIDé, afin d'élever le niveau de son activité. La représentante du groupe, du nom de Patricia Josette est celle qui a la main levée sur la photo. Patricia Josette est âgée de 40 ans et est mariée à un certain Epiphane. Patricia Josette a arrêté l'école au niveau secondaire. Le couple a trois enfants, tous scolarisés et à leur charge. Patricia Josette vit ensemble avec son mari et ses enfants. Le couple se partage les différentes charges de la maison. Pour contribuer aux différents besoins de la famille, Patricia Josette vend depuis huit ans des mèches, des produits cosmétiques, des liqueurs dans son quartier. De façon secondaire, Patricia Josette vend des chaussures et des tissus. Cette activité lui permet de répondre sans grande difficulté à ses besoins. Patricia Josette s’approvisionne au Bénin et à Lomé. Dans la quête de la satisfaction de sa clientèle et pour accroître son chiffre d’affaires et son revenu, Patricia Josette sollicite ensemble avec les autres membres du groupe CONFIANCE, un troisième crédit auprès de ALIDé. Les deux premiers prêts ont été bien remboursés.

About Alidé

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
