A loan of $825 helped to purchase more essential commodities for her business.

Esther's story

Esther is 33 years old and lives in the town of Seeta in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has five children, two of whom currently attend school. For the past 10 years, Esther has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells sugar and soap.

To help expand her business, Esther has requested a loan of 2,000,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more essential commodities for her business, and will help Esther to generate greater profits and change her children's lives into better ones. Esther hopes that in the future she will be able to become a powerful business woman.

Esther is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Esther who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
