A loan of $800 helped to expand her business and repair her oven.

Lang's story

Mrs. Lang H., 56, is a mother of five children and lives with her husband in Bathambong province, Cambodia. She works making a local food called "nem" (a sour roll made of hashed meat (usually pork and fish) wrapped and cooked in green banana leaves), which is favored by the Cambodian people. With this business activity, she can typically make around $5 each day in revenue.

Her husband also helps to generate the family income by working as a carpenter and normally earns about $5 each day of income. Two of her children work with her, helping her to make nem. The other three are married and stay outside the family’s home.

Mrs. Lang H. has applied for a loan to expand her business. Another part of the loan is to repair her oven.
