A loan of $1,700 helped a member to buy clothing for sale.

Kuña Guapa Isla Umbugua Group's story

The "Kuña Guapa Isla Umbugua" women's communal bank was formed in 2011. They are in their second loan cycle, working jointly and supportively in the program. In addition to the work that each does independently, they also carry out activities jointly, in order to raise monies with the aim of having a capital fund within the group. At the same time they help one another to attain their objective, which is to work to support their families financially.

This is Victorina's story: She sells clothing, and also has a stand selling food and drinks. She tells us that she supports the household, as she became a widow two years ago, and she alone has all the responsibility. She wishes to keep working so that she can help her family with day-to-day expenses.

She is applying for the loan in order to buy clothing, enabling her to stock up, and that way have more variety to offer her customers. She is grateful for the help she is receiving, as it will be very useful to her.
