A loan of $600 helped buy manure, seeds to plant, fertilizers, and liquids.

Maria Luisa's story

Maria Luisa is 30 years old, single, and has 1 son. She lives with her mother in Guaranda, Bolivar province. Maria is a farmer and cultivates potatoes and corn. In addition, she raises chickens and pigs, and also does weaving.

Her communal bank, “Arte y Cultura (Art and Culture) 'Wari',” is located in Larkaloma community, some 45 minutes from our office. It is composed of 11 members.

Maria is requesting a loan to buy manure, seeds to plant, fertilizers, and liquids. With help from the loan she will be able to save her potato and corn crops. Her purchases and sales are made in Guaranda every 15 days.

Maria's dreams are to have a vehicle and a house of her own. The challenges she faces include transportation, competition, and the middle men. In her free time, she rests and the time of year she likes most is Christmas.
