A loan of $2,075 helped to buy vegetables to sell in his community.

Pedro's story

Pedro lives in a community called Osa, which is located in Caña Blancal, in Puntarenas province. This community is known for being in a rural area which receives a lot of visitors to its beaches. The main business activities in this area are tourism and agriculture. Pedro says that he has thought about how beneficial it would be for his community to have a vegetable supplier because his neighbors do not have any businesses nearby that supply them with these essential products. He also says that this business will help him to make progress in life and improve his personal financial situation as he believes it to be a promising project. He adds that he has the support of his community in carrying out this business activity. Pedro is currently requesting a micro loan for 1,050,000 colones so that he can buy vegetables to sell in neighboring communities. Pedro is a member of the Caña Blancal community loan company, one of 110 organizations associated with EDESA in Costa Rica. He hopes to use this loan to grow further on both a personal and financial level. He also points out that, thanks to this type of organization who provide loans, he will be able to spend more time engaged in productive activities.
