A loan of $825 helped to buy traditional cloth and sacks of charcoal.

Afi's story

Afi is a 39-years-old woman who is married to a pastor. She has three children, of whom two are in school. The first child is 12 years old, and the last, 2.

Afi has been working as a retailer since 1994. She sells pagnes (colorful West African cloth) and charcoal to all comers to her home. She purchases the goods in Lomé. She works alone. At the moment, her main difficulty is not being able to meet the demand fully.

Afi has requested her first loan from WAGES to buy sacks of charcoal and some pagne cloth. She wants to reinvest in her business. In the next few years, Afi would like to increase her working capital. She says she plans on using the profits to improve her family's living conditions.
