A loan of $700 helped to buy ingredients and supplies in order to fill her daily lunch orders.

Monica's story

Mónica is 46, and lives with her partner. She has an 18-year-old son, and she dreams of seeing him become a very successful person. That is why she works tirelessly to be able to support him. She started her business of selling fast-foods because she needed to generate her own source of employment, but as she did not have enough working capital, she resorted to a partnership, which didn't go very well, and that's why she went independent in another location with her own clientele, which is growing a lot every day. Her great challenge is to locate herself again in the spot which, when she was part of the partnership, had increased in value; because in addition to it being very well-known, it is in a busier area. Currently she is experimenting with new products such as lunches and meals, and it's going very well. But her working capital is insufficient to make major purchase that offer discounts, and through which she can aspire to increase her sales. This is the reason why she is applying for her credikiva loan, the first she is getting from the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. Through the loan, she will buy ingredients and supplies in order to fill her daily lunch orders, which she sells in advance. This will enable her to build up her income, because her fast-food sales are only on weekends. This is precisely how this investment will succeed, as through it, she aspires to earn a bit more; she will increase her earning capacity and her financial sustainability.
