Vasil is 34 years old. He lives in the Akhmeta district of East Georgia with his family, including his wife, Nina, 13-year-old son, 4-year-old daughter and grandmother. Nina works as a dentist assistant in Akhmeta.
Vasil is leading the agricultural business of the family. They have a farm with a milk cow, a calf and two pigs. Vasil produces cheese and sells it to local dairy products retailers. On average, he sells 20 piglets per year at the local market. The family also owns a vineyard with 1,200 vine trees. Vasil produces wine and sells it from his house. The total average monthly income of the family is 750 GEL, including the pension of Vasil’s grandmother.
Vasil has requested credit to expand his family farm. With the borrowed amount, he will purchase two milk cows, enabling him to produce and sell 200 percent more cheese. This will increase the income of the family by at least 300 GEL. Vasil plans to use the increased income to create better living conditions for his children and other family members.
