A loan of $375 helped to maintain his vehicle.

Gerardo Daniel's story

Gerardo is a young man of 21 years, and an enthusiastic worker. He lives in the city of Ica, a city known for its sand dunes, which are visited extensively by tourists year-round, as well as Lake Huacachina. Some of the best cotton and asparagus in the world are grown there.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing soccer with his friends and neighbors. He also likes to indulge in one of his favorite dishes, which is the very rich escabeche (a dish with a base of onion seasoned with chili vinegar and other ingredients, with a piece of chicken added).

He has a fifth-grade education, but he would have liked to study dentistry. Daily, Gerardo works very hard at his rickshaw business, where he is a driver. He works about eight hours a day and can attend to as many as 30 customers in a day. He believes he does well with his business because he covers a lot of streets during the day in search of customers and, above all, he treats them well.

Gerardo is very grateful for Kiva’s loans. Thanks to that support, he has been able to maintain his vehicle, ensuring its good condition, so that his clients will have more confidence in using his services and allowing him to continue working so he can reach his big dream: “to buy himself a car”.
