A loan of $200 helped to buy a large table for cutting fabric and a semi-industrial machine for making suits..

Juana Bautista's story

Juana is a member of the communal bank “Women of Santa Rosa of Arapa II,” located in the district of Arapa, Azángaro province, Department of Puno. She is 31 years old, a live-in partner, and has a young daughter. She started technical university courses. For a year and a half, she has worked with the Manuela Ramos Movement. Her first loan was for S/. 300.00 nuevo soles, money which she used to buy a table for her sewing machine, as she makes suits and mends other garments.

She is requesting a new loan of S/. 500.00 nuevo soles, money which she will use to buy a large table for cutting fabric and a semi-industrial machine for making suits. She works alone; her husband is a construction worker.

Her dream is to expand her business and open an ice cream shop in the future. What she likes most about her communal bank are the training, discussions, and the credit facilities.
