“Virgen de Caacupé” is the group from the city of Santaní. They are female heads of household who strive to the maximum in order to provide their families with everything they themselves never had access to. They are very enthusiastic women who want to make progress and to get ahead and this is why they always help each other out.

Neria is one of these women. She defines herself as being a very hardworking person who tirelessly strives day to day to give her loved ones the best. She is a seamstress and she comments that she does very well because she’s always known how to do good work and that helps her attract more customers. Her goal is to continue growing and thus continue to help her family.

She requested the loan to stock her shop with fabric, needles, thread, adhesives, buttons and other supplies to continue working and growing. She, like the group, are grateful for the opportunity to progress they are getting from Kiva and Fundación Paraguaya.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
