Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $625 helped to buy clothing, shoes, and loincloths intended for resale.

Aissata Samba's story

Aissata Samba is 46 years old, married, and mother of five children. Her eldest child is 27 years old, and her youngest child is 7. She has been selling goods since 2008.

She is seeking a third loan of 300,000 CFA to buy clothing, loincloths, and shoes in order to resell them at the local market.

She is not burdened by any expenses other than her own. That's how she is able to save up and correctly pay off her loan.

According to her, the best way to keep money is to invest it in valuable jewelry, like gold. That's why she has given herself a project for the future: to buy lots of precious metals.
