Emilia's story

Emilia is a 39-year-old woman, who is married with three children who are financially dependent on her She lives in her own home in the Punto Cuatro hamlet in the Mochumí district. She lives in a rural area, but has basic electrical and water services.

The work that Emilia does is raising and selling animals, which she raises in the space behind her home and takes to market every two weeks at the markets in Chiclayo and Lambayeque. She raises her animals in pens made of wattle and daub, and feeds them on an animal feed made from rice, on purine, and on natural grasses. In addition, Emilia makes and sells chicha, a drink made from corn, in her home. Emilia's husband works as a car controller for the Paradero 10 Transportation Business of Lambayeque.

The loan amounts to 2,500 new soles, which will be used for the purchase of livestock and roofing for her home, and for the purchase of school supplies for her two youngest children.
