A loan of $375 helped to buy tables, chairs, and a display case to fill with sweet treats.

Gladys's story

Gladys is a 36-year-old woman who, together with her husband, has worked hard every day and acquired her own home where she and her husband live together with their young children. In order to make the income that their family needs, Gladys' husband sometimes works on construction jobs and on other occasions he looks for other ways to make income. Gladys works selling 'salchipollo' (Peruvian fast food - chicken and fries).

Gladys has been in this business for two years. She chose it because there wasn't anybody else in her area who sold 'salchipollo' or hamburgers and so she believed it to be a great business opportunity. Thanks to her enthusiasm, Gladys has managed to make income for her family. She is lucky because she lives on a street corner, opposite a school. She makes the most of this when selling her products.

With the help of Kiva lenders, Gladys will be able to buy tables and chairs for her business. She would also like to buy a display case and fill it with sweet treats for her student customers. With these new conveniences in place, she would like to fulfill her dream of opening small premises where she can sell all types of hamburgers and thereby increase her income so that her family can live well.
