A loan of $1,025 helped to buy damask cloth.

Djeneba's story

DJENEBA is 29 years old, married, and without children. She lives in a nuclear family in the Pelengana Sud district of Ségou. Not having attended school due to societal reasons, she soon started to become interested in revenue-generating work with her mother, who used to sell cotton clothing. After several years of apprenticeship at her side, she started to work by herself by running the same commercial business in cotton clothing, especially damask.

DJENEBA has been in this business for nine years and benefits from good experience and a large customer base. Her selling power is due to her mastery of the ins and outs of this business sector but also to her affordable prices and the quality of her merchandise.

Concerned with increasing her business capital and making more profit, DJENEBA is requesting a loan. She is on her first individual loan that she intends to use to buy two lengths of riche damask cloth. She gets her supplies from Bamako and accepts cash from a mixed customer base in general. She exports to Senegal in particular.

With this loan, she envisions making a monthly profit of 250,000 francs CFA. This profit will enable her to repay her loan and to run other revenue-generating businesses. Her ambition is to open a store for ready-to-wear clothing.
