Joy's story

Joy is aged 35 and has earned a living as a farmer for the last 10 years. Her farm currently produces bananas, maize, beans and milk for the local market, and the money she earns allows her to meet her family's needs. She is married and has three children who range in age from 4 to 16 years old. She is requesting a loan for KES 60,000, which she intends to use in a constructing a grazing area for her dairy cows. She will also increase the number of her cows to five within five years. She believes the resulting increase in income will make life better for her family. Her main challenge is insufficient rain, which makes feeding her cattle costly and difficult.
