A loan of $350 helped to buy a dairy cow.

Mutai's story

Mutai has been farming for five years in his rural home in Kitale where he lives with his family of three children aged between seven and two years. His mixed farm produces milk, pineapples and tea which he sells locally to earn income to meet daily family needs.

Mutai has requested a loan of 29,000 KES from Juhudi Kiimo in order to buy a chuff cutter which will improve his dairy animal feeding and significantly reduce costly wastage in feeds. Mutai plans to develop his farm into a zero-grazing system.

Mutai says drought and a lack of finances are farmers' main business challenges, but is glad Juhudi Kilimo is providing loans to small farmers.
