Yrma Gloria's story

Yrma, 39, is the mother of a 12 year old little girl she lives with in the city of Pisco, a city noted for having one of the country’s most important tourist attractions: the Paracas Candelabrum and the Ballestas Islands. It also has as important activities fishing and agriculture. Like all good Peruvians, she enjoys our country’s cuisine very much and one of her favorite dishes is the very delicious “Cau Cau” [tripe stew]. She studied up to fifth year of secondary school but would have liked to study veterinary medicine.

With much dedication, Yrma works in her business selling clothes. She works about 10 hours daily and can care for up to 30 customers a day. She believes that she does well in her business because she’s well-known in her neighborhood and because she’s nice to customers.

Yrma is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the help they’ve given her she will be able to buy more merchandise for her business (clothes for the fall season) that will allow her to provide more variety of products to her customers and improve her income so that she can continue working toward her great dream: “To give her daughter a good education.”
