A loan of $1,125 helped to hire farmworkers and to buy sacks of fertilizer.

Rayda's story

Rayda, 32, is a single mother with two children. They live in her own house located in the town of Mantaro in the district of Pichari. Rayda works growing cacao and bananas. She makes hard sacrifices for the well-being of her children, serving as father.

She says that her husband abandoned them when the youngest of their children was still seven months old. Since that moment Rayda had to experience many unexpected events working as a farmworker where they paid her a pittance. But with the little savings she had, she bought a plot of land where she planted cacao and bananas, and currently she harvests the fruit of her efforts.

Normally she works with the help of her children, but in the harvest season she counts on the labor of farmworkers. She sells her product in the same town to the highest bidder.

Rayda is happy with her production and this is thanks to the farming techniques she uses. She is planning to build her house in the future. This is her second loan with MFP, and she promises once again to make her payments punctually.

With the 3,000 nuevos soles (PEN), she will invest in weeding her banana plot and hiring farmworkers, and she also will buy sacks of fertilizer.
