A loan of $750 helped to buy a wider selection of beverages.

Maria's story

María, 39, is married to Jesús, 49, and they have three children; they live in Llochegua District. María is a tenacious woman who day to day strives or her beloved family’s wellbeing. She has been selling beverages for more than fifteen years in a rented space. She relates that selling beverages is very profitable because in this part of Perú the weather is hot. Despite that, however, she has little competition so he sales have been improving day to day. On Saturdays and Sundays she also prepares food and sometimes does so on special order. This is how María earns her daily bread. The only inconvenience María has is the shortage of potable water which is very important for the business she has. María is happy with her work. She usually works with help from her husband and her children. Later on she’d like to build a locale of her own. This is her second MFP loan so she commits to make her installment payments punctually. María is happy in her communal bank because they are responsible. She will use the 2000 new soles to buy beverages.
