A loan of $1,500 helped to buy cocoa bean plants.

Paulina's story

Paulina, 27, lives with Amílcar, 32, and they have two children. They live together in their own house located in the community of Yurinate in Pichari District.

Paulina is a woman who works growing farm products on a parcel of farmland she owns located in her community. She has grown cocoa beans and bananas there since several years ago; she sells her harvests to grain consolidators who take care of the transport and even the drying. This is why harvesting isn’t quite so difficult for Paulina any more because it used to be that she and her husband had to transport the heavy sacks of cocoa beans together in order to sell it.

On the other hand, she also harvests wood but this is a task her husband does with two employees and this also generates good income. In this way Paulina tries to earn her own income so that her children will have everything they need. She’s happy with the work she does now because it produces good profits because her products command good prices. Later on she plans to expand her cocoa bean plantations.

This is her second MFP loan so she once again commits to make her installment payments punctually. She will use the 4000 new soles to buy cocoa bean plants.
