Farida's story

Farida lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is married and has six children, all of whom are in school. She doesn’t take care of additional family members.

She sells sweet bananas at the market on a retail basis. She has been in this business for the last eight years. She works seven days a week.

Farida has requested a loan of 800,000 UGX from MCDT SACCO to buy sweet bananas. She generates additional income through selling charcoal. Her major business challenges are seasonality and thieves. Her goals and aspirations are to build rental houses and also to start going to villages for sweet bananas and charcoal.

She lives in her own house and the family has access to electricity, but does not have piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees and medication.
