A loan of $425 helped to buy millet and peanut paste to re-sell.

Sanou's story

Madame Sanou is over sixty years old, and lives in Senegal. For the past fifteen years, she has been involved in retail, selling couscous, "thiacry" (steamed millet couscous), and peanut paste in her neighborhood. She chose this activity as it was an opportunity, and allows her to meet her own needs as well as support her family.

She has been a member of one of the U-IMCEC branches since February 2005, and has already repaid ten previous loans. She is asking for a loan of 200,000 francs to buy millet and peanut paste. Millet is a food staple and also the main ingredient in couscous and "thiacry." Madame Sanou will re-sell everything she buys. Thanks to her business' profit, she can be financially independent as she meets her needs and those of her family without relying on anyone else. She can also buy furniture.
