A loan of $900 helped to purchase chickens, pigs, and vegetables.

Mercy Diana's story

Mercy is a member of the community bank 14 de Agosto. She lives in the Zhidmad parish in the city of Cuenca. The community is surrounded by abundant vegetation, where the peace and tranquility of the countryside can be enjoyed. The people of Zhidmad work in agriculture and the raising of livestock, and many work daily in the city in various activities.

Mercy is 22 years old. She is married and with her husband has two daughters, a four year old and a six month old. Her husband works as a mason. Mercy does not have her own house but lives with her inlaws, with whom she shares living expenses.

Four months ago Mercy began working at a nursery, where she works Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM. On the weekends, she sells vegetables as a street vendor at a city market. She raises chickens and pigs at her house.

This is Mercy's ninth loan with the community bank. With it she will invest in the purchase of chickens, pigs, and vegetables in order to continue her business. Her goal is for her business to grow.
