A loan of $2,175 helped a member to buy supplies for a grocery store.

Cañaveral Group's story

The Cañaveral communal bank was formed more than a year ago. It is comprised of 12 women. The bank was formed with the idea of obtaining a small amount of capital to invest in their businesses. They say that their work days start very early and they buy new inventory with the profits they make.

Asunción is the president of the group. She tells us that she has a well-stocked grocery store, which supplies most of her neighbors. She has a lot of sales, and thanks to her variety and good products, she adds more customers all the time. Her goal is to keep growing so she can have a little more income.

Asunción has turned to Fundación Paraguaya and Kiva to request a loan, which she would like to invest in food, drinks, dairy products, cleaning products, and other items with which she will stock her store.
