Rosaura's story

Rosaura, 43, lives with her 12 year old son in Santiago District in Ica, Perú. Santiago District is noted for farming and cattle raising and also for the large number of agro exporters that provide much employment in the district. In her free time, Rosaura enjoys making crafts and on occasion enjoys eating one of her favorite dishes, the very delicious “Ceviche" [marinated fish cocktail]. Thanks to her efforts she was able to complete her career as a History and Geography Teacher.

Rosaura works as a grocer selling groceries, vegetables and chicken, among others, and she also has Internet access booths. She works about 12 hours daily and takes care of up to 40 customers. She believes that she does well in her business because she has a variety of products on offer.

Rosaura is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the support they’ve given her she will be able to buy merchandise, especially office supplies, that will make it possible for her to have still more variety of products to offer her customers and to improve her income. She will continue striving and working toward reaching her greatest dream: “To have a hardware store.”
