A loan of $625 helped to rent a tractor.

Irma's story

Irma is from a village of Abasha District, West Georgia. She is married and lives with her husband Raul and two adult children (23 and 21 years old). All family members are involved in family agriculture, which is the only source of income for them.

The family has 5 milk cows and 4 calves. Irma produces cheese and sells it at the local market. Along with the dairy farm the family owns 2.5 hectare land, where maize and nut trees are grown. Irma sells on average 1 tone of maize and 400 kg of nuts per year. Total average monthly income of the family is 600 Laris.

Irma has requested the loan to finance some seasonal agricultural projects. In particular, the family will rent a tractor for tilling the land. Afterwards they will sow maize. The family members will work hard during spring and summer months and enjoy the harvest in late summer. After selling the harvested maize the family will use the expected income to finance ongoing agricultural needs, as well as improve the family's quality of life.
