A loan of $750 helped to buy bags of organic fertilizer.

Yonson's story

22-year-old Yonson is an enthusiastic young man. He is married to Sara and the couple have one daughter: Miluska. They live together in their own home, in Purhuaracra, in San Pedro de Cajas - Tarma. Yonson is a farmer. When he joined his own life with that of his wife he decided to develop responsibly in this business. "I grow carrots and Yungay and Color varieties of potato because it is most profitable", he says. Carrots are what Yonson most enjoys growing because he can harvest them every four months and there is always demand. However, the problem he faces is the lowering of prices which very often damages his finances. For this reason, he also grows potatoes and other vegetables to balance his income throughout all the months of the year. Yonson says that he is starting slowly but his goals are well defined. He would like to expand his production and take his harvests elsewhere to sell. In order to achieve this, he will have to sow his crops on more land and save more money. He believes that he will manage this with effort and perseverance. Yonson will be receiving his third loan from MFP and he gives his word that he will be punctual in making his monthly repayments. He is a member of “Los Productores de Purhuaracra” community bank and he feels happy because all the members are supportive and entrepreneurial. He will use his money to buy bags of organic fertilizer such as guano and farmyard manure which he will spread over his carrot and potato crops.
