Aliko's story

Aliko is 27 years old and lives in a small village in the Khoni district. He is married and lives with his wife, Lamara, and grandparents (retired).

The only source of income for the family is agriculture. They have a milk cow. Aliko and Lamara produce cheese and sell on average 20 kg of it in the village. The family also has a small poultry farm – they raise chickens and sell hens on the local open market.

As well as this, Aliko and Lamara are busy with a greenhouse with a total area of 600 sq meters. They grow tomatoes in the greenhouse and sell on average 1 ton of this product to local greengrocery retailers.

The total average monthly income of the family is 800 Laris, including the pensions of Aliko’s grandparents.

Aliko requested credit to purchase feed for chickens. He will feed the chickens for 2-3 months and sell them in the summer. Aliko plans to use the additional income to purchase much needed household goods, in order to improve the family's living conditions.
