A loan of $1,000 helped to buy trousers, blouses, T-shirts and children's clothes.

Nieve Moncerrate's story

Members of the communal bank 'Dulce Amistad' meet every fifteen days in the canton of Rocafuerte. This place is known for the delicious sweets its locals, who are known by the whole country to be warm, friendly, hard working people, prepare.

Here we met Nieve, who is 53 years old. Her husband died several years ago and left her a widow but from this relationship she had three children, all of whom are now adults.

In order to get ahead in life she makes a living selling all types of clothes. She sells both from door to door and in her house where she has a small shop where her customers come when she has new stock, which she buys in Guayaquil. She works every day in the mornings, leaves the items with her customers on credit and collects her payment every fifteen days. She has had this business for the past 15 years and thanks to it she has helped her family get ahead.

This loan is to buy more stock such as: trousers, blouses, T-shirts and children's clothes. She has been member of the communal bank for more than two years she likes it because the group is very united.

Her dream is to have a storeroom where she can sell her products.
