Santa Librada [Saint Wilgefortis] is a group composed of 21 women, all of whom are friends and neighbors from this city. They are known in the neighborhood through the community bank they work with, and it's precisely because of this that they have been able to get ahead and grow. Currently they're in their third cycle of the women's entrepreneur program at Fundación Paraguaya, and they're very happy with it.

Viviana is a dressmaker. She says that she works every day in her shop, which is set up in her home. She tells us that the majority of her neighbors always give her a lot of work, which helps her to be able to maintain her home. She is a very hardworking and determined person who wants to keep working to help her family.

Viviana is asking for a loan to buy fabric, thread, and elastic, among other things, with which she will be able to stock up and have more materials to do her work.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
