Doris's story

Señora Doris is a 30-year-old woman with four children. She and her husband work hard to offer their little ones the best. For this reason, her husband works as a driver on an estate and she works all day in her grocery store. This family lives in the city of Ica, Peru. This area is known for being the home of the La Huacachina oasis, a popular destination which draws the tourists who visit the city.
Doras works an average of 13 hours per day. During this time, she tends to her customers, who all live nearby. She believes that her business is a success because she always offers the lowest possible price. She knows that good prices are a crucial aspect of customers' purchase decisions.
With the help of the Kiva lenders, she will be able to buy a freezer, three scaffolds, one horizontal display case, and five propane cylinders. This will allow her to improve the way in which she displays the products in her store. She also wants to start selling a new product: propane cylinders. She knows that this investment will mean that her customers will be better able to see her products. With the new income from this investment, she wants to stock her store even more and get a little closer to her dream: "Having a mini market in the area where I live."
