Sope Serigneibra Group's story

This solidarity group was created on 12/30/2009. It is comprised of twelve women from the same village. They got organized through neighborly and friendship relations. Their main activities are retail and the transformation of grain. Mrs. Seneba (standing on the right in the picture, wearing purple with a red scarf) is the group leader. She is 52 years old. She is a widow and a mother of six; one of `the children was entrusted in her care by relatives. Her main business is the retail of coffee, sugar and condiments (chili peppers, black pepper, and garlic). She has been in this business for five years. She procures her supplies from neighboring villages. Her loan will allow her to purchase merchandise with which to carry on her business and to satisfy her clientele. Her objective is to provide for her family and to increase her savings.
