A loan of $5,275 helped a member to buy more stock of secondhand shoes to resell.

Tausi Group's story

The borrower, who is in his early 40s, is single with one child, who is still going to school. He has been selling secondhand shoes for 20 years now. He works from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm daily and is able to make a fair monthly profit.

This will be his 11th loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. He used the previous loans to increase the shoes' stock, buy a shamba, buy a motorcycle and pay for household expenses. He has paid back all his loans successfully. He wants a loan to buy more stock of secondhand shoes to resell. His dream is to one day be able to buy another motorcycle and a car.

He will share this loan with his loan group, "Tausi", which has a total of 17 members who will hold each other accountable for paying back their loans.
