A loan of $1,650 helped to buy children's clothes.

Rosa Targelia's story

Rosa is a member of the Siempre Amigas communal bank. She lives in the el Valle parish in Cuenca. This parish is known for its natural beauty. Its people raise animals, farm and are merchants. Many of them work in the city of Cuenca in various activities and maintain the culture and traditions of their parents.

Rosa is 54 years old. She is married and her marriage has produced 6 children. Two of her children are married and one of these live on his own and the other lives in her house sharing the household expenses. Her daughter works and lives independently and her three youngest children go to high school in town. Her husband is a mechanic and they own the house they live in.

Rosa does the household chores and she is also an informal merchant. She only works on market days selling children's clothes, an activity she has been doing for 22 years. At home she also raises animals such as pigs and chickens for household consumption.

She has been in the communal bank for 12 years and she will invest the new loan in buying children's clothes to stock up on merchandise.

Her dream is for all of her children to have professional degrees.
