Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $375 helped to buy a truckload of fodder for the animals.

Nancy Beatriz's story

Nancy is a member of the Las Mujeres de Santa Rosa de Arapa II communal bank. It is located in the Arapa district, Azángaro province, Puno department. Nancy, age 24, is in a common-law marriage and has two children. She attended school until the first year of high school.

She has worked with the Movimiento Manuela Ramos for two years. Her first loan was for 500 soles, which she used to invest in her business of selling cows and sheep.

She is requesting a new loan for 1,000 soles to buy a truckload of fodder for the animals. She works together with her husband, and he also works as an electrician.

Her dream for the future is to have a grocery store.

What she likes the most about her communal bank are the meetings and the easy terms of the loan.
