A loan of $875 helped to purchase supplies for planting her fields.

Nieves's story

Señora Nieves is 33 years old. She is a single mother with one dependent child who attends primary school. She lives in the rural community of Molino Blanco, which is 26 km from the city of Cochabamba.

Nieves works in farming, growing potatoes, peas, and corn on the two hectare field she inherited from her parents. It is very difficult for her to go to the banks to get a financial loan, as they have many requirements. CIDRE IFD took the initiative to go to this area to promote themselves, and discovered that Señora Nieves needed capital to expand her crops and increase her agricultural production of products such as potatoes, corn and flowers. She has the spaces prepared, but they haven't been cultivated because of her lack of supplies.

Doña Nieves tells us that now she can plant a greater surface and in this way increase her income and be able to save money to build her own home, as she currently lives in her parents' home. Another of her goals is for her only child to study, so that he can have a professional career that will provide him with a better standard of living.
