A loan of $950 helped to improve his shop and to buy an awning.


Jonathan Leonardo's story

Jhonatan is 31 years old and he lives in the town of Ica, famous for its hot climate all over the years; agriculture is one of its main activities, notably grapes, asparagus and lima beans plantations. Being a true Peruvian, he enjoys the typical dishes of our country, one of his favorite being “Cau Cau”*. With much efforts he also succeeds in attending university, where he studies psychology, something her likes very much.

Jhonatan runs a grocery store, working there almost 9 hours per day, and he can tend to up to 40 customers. He believes his activity his going well because he tends to his customers with good care.

Jhonatan is deeply grateful to Kiva’s Lenders because thanks to the help her has been given he will be able to improve his shop (painting of the room, improving of the façade) and to buy an awning to attach it to his roof. He will this have a more colorful place and his customers will feel more comfortable, thus granting him the improvement of his earnings and allowing him to keep on fighting to achieve his goal: “To own a house”.

*Cau Cau is a typical Peruvian dish of Creole origins, made of tripe or chicken, potatoes, onion, garlic, lime and spices such as cumin, mint and pepper.
