Joy Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva.org in Makeni, Northern Sierra Leone, is very pleased to present the “Joy” group. These are small scale entrepreneurs who are requesting a loan for 500,000 SLL for each member in order to invest in their businesses.

Sitta is the leader of this group. She is 33 years old, married, and has two children, one of whom attends primary school. A native of Sowa village, Sitta’s husband is also a businessman.

Sitta sells palm oil, salt, margi cubes (used to give sauce a sweet taste), pepper, etc., which she has been doing for three years. With the help of this loan, Sitta will invest in her business by buying the above mentioned goods in bulk to add to her current stock.
