A loan of $1,000 helped to buy 600 kg of fish.

Khadime's story

Khadime has been in the fish trade for nearly 16 years. He buys the whole catch from 1 or 2 canoes when they unload their fish, and resells it to retailers located in the large towns of the country's interior. Khadime also farms, in order to diversify his sources of revenue. He is married to 2 women and father to 6 children, who all go to the French-Arab school.

Khadime's town is, however, suffering from a shortage of fish. He is therefore forced to travel along the extensive coastline to obtain the product, something which requires important sums of money. This is why he is requesting a loan of 500 000 francs to buy 600 kg of fish. His ambition is to buy his own canoes and a refrigerated vehicle so that he can better move and sell his goods.
