In this Group: Anet, Sarah, Jolly, Gladys, Boerz, Cissy, January, Margaret, Harriet, Shaban, Fatuma, Nuriat, Prossy, Jamada, Mood, Paul
The Kavuga Group has been together for six years and comprises 16 men and women who each have businesses in the area. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, who will invest in their own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible

Anet L., the group’s chairperson, is seeking a loan to purchase a refrigerator, some chairs, and drinks to sell in her bar.

Anet runs a bar from which she serves beer and non-alcoholic beverages to the locals in her town of Mpigi. The bar is open every day of the week from 7am to midnight, and Anet works alone, caring for her youngest child during the day. The bar has been in operation since 2005, and sales have steadily increased over time.

Anet is 28 years old. She is married and has two daughters aged nine and four years. Her husband is a forest ranger. They value education highly and hope that their children become accountants or engineers.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
