A loan of $625 helped to buy tables, chairs and kitchen items, and also to buy ingredients in greater volume.

Ximena's story

Ximena is 28, and lives in the beautiful city of Cartagena, located on the shores of the Caribbean. It is the second most important urban center on the Colombian Caribbean Coast, after the city of Barranquilla. She has a business selling food, that she started in order to work only during the weekends, selling soup to her neighbors: a nutricious broth, in which vegetables or meat products have been cooked. Gradually her business began to grow, and her customers started asking her to work every day. That is why she prepares a daily meal special, directed to her market of working people, to whom she sells her lunch every day of the week. Her goal is to succeed in organizing her business better and to have a good customer base, which has a potential to grow. This is why she needs to serve her customers in the best way possible, and offer them a comfortable environment. However her great challenge is the lack of working capital to achieve this. It is why she is applying for her first credikiva loan from the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. She will use it to buy fixed assets such as tables and chairs, and kitchen items, and also to buy ingredients in greater volume; which means getting a good discount on her purchases. This is exactly why this investment will contribute to her success.
