Juquilitas De Jamiltepec Group's story

This group is called 'Juquilitas de Jamiltepec' it is made up of 14 members, all of whom are hard workers and humble. They all make a living with their own business. All of the group members are from a small town called Jamiltepec, a pretty place where there is a beautiful river with green trees. The river is called 'Rio Verde' [Green River]

One of the group members is Maria Isabel, a hard working woman of 41 years old. Maria Isabel, who is better known as Chabela, makes a living selling chickens. She has had this business for 18 years. Chabela is happily married to Brigido, who is 43 years old and with whom she has 4 children: Adrian, Gonzalo, Ruben and Luís. Their children are their motivation to work because they want to give them a better life and a better education. Chabela told us that she started to sell house to house, buying a small amount of chickens to sell, but with the help of the foundation she bought more chickens. In the mornings she goes out to sell in the streets of the community. In the afternoons she kills chickens for the customers who will buy in the afternoon in order to prepare the chicken for their dinners. She requested this loan to buy more chickens at wholesale for retail. She is very happy for the support of the foundation because it has allowed her to grow her business and to have a better quality of life.

The other group members are: Felipa Neriz who makes a living selling chickens. Epifanía Silvana who makes a living selling snacks. Zenaida who makes a living selling snacks.
