El Jasmin Group's story

The "Jasmin" group is made up of 8 people who are very cheerful and hard-working. Each of them carries out an economic activity with the aim of providing a better quality of life for their families. This group is located in a sugar cane growing region, only a few minutes from La Margarita plant, which is one of the region's main cane producers.

Isaura is one of the members of this group. She is 28 years old and married to Vicente, who is a rural worker. They have two children: Vicente, age 11, who is in primary school, and a little daughter, Jasmin, age 4, who attends preschool. A little more than nine years ago, Isaura decided to start working in her own business, selling articles for the home (kitchen items) from a catalog. She sells them to her friends and neighbors in the community, and "thanks to God," over time she has found good customers who are willing to buy from her.

Her business works like this: in the morning she takes care of her household tasks, and in the evening she takes her catalogs and goes out to show them to her customers and take orders. When she has sufficient orders, she buys the items, delivers them to her customers and collects the payments. She enjoys her business very much, since she runs it in her spare time and does not neglect her small children. Isaura needs this loan to invest in buying a variety of plates, glasses, pans and utensils to stock her business. She says that she hopes that with this loan, her customer base will expand, so that her sales and earnings will grow, and thus she can give her family a better quality of life.

The other members of the group are:

Bernardina, sells groceries
Lucia, sells Mexican snacks
Minerva, sells soft drinks
Ingrid, sells pastries
Miguel, sells bread

In this group: Rebeca, Isaura, Consuelo, Bernardina, Lucia, Minerva Jessica, Ingrid Belem, Miguel
