Libis's story

Libis is 27 years old, she owns a bakery that she started in 2009 by own initiative because she learned the technique and liked working on it, to generate income and help in the well-being of her home, formed by her husband and young son. She started with small capital from a third party loan at high cost, she made pudding from orders and then started adding other delicious desserts, then added cookies and lastly she started producing bread, selling them amongst neighboors. As her clientele grew because of the variety and quality of her products, she has been able to stay in the market and help with the home expenses. Her goal is to own a house and a business location of good size so she can sell from a location with lots of traffic. She is currently applying for her first credikiva, also the first one from Fundacion Mario Santo Domingo, with it she will buy at wholesale ingredients such as flour, eggs, caramel, crystallized fruit, salt, sugar, yeast and essences to increase production due to growth in demand. Her investment will be successful, because it will enable her negotiating skills to get better prices for her ingredients and because this type of business is well known and she needs to expand her client potential.
