A loan of $4,425 helped a member to buy car washing machine.

Cordillera Group's story

The “Cordillera” communal bank will start its first cycle in Pro Mujer as part of the Santiago II Focal Center. It has 11 members and a governing board headed by Mercedez. The members of this communal bank carry out a variety of businesses among which we have: car washing, antenna sales, stockings and children’s clothes sales, shoe making, soft-drink sales, underwear sales, costume jewelry sales, glassware and beer sales.

Mercedez indicates that she’s participating in a communal bank for the first time and she currently has a car washing service that she’s had for several years having learned it from her neighbors. The loan this cycle is to expand the business.

She will buy a car washing machine from distributors and then will install it in her workplace. This way of working allows her to support her family for she’s unmarried and has four children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she answer that she likes training in health and credit.

In this group: Mercedez, Saturnino Limber, Jenny Marcela, Eva Sulema, Maria Benedicta, Karen Roxana, Lidia , Juana Roxana, Virginia Benita, Leyddy Remedios, Juana Elena
