A loan of $1,725 helped to buy merchandise and a display case.

Mercedes's story

Mercedes, 66, lives with her husband and they have two children who are 29 and 30 years old. She’s been a merchant since 2004 when she started selling assorted merchandise on credit among her friends and neighbors in her own neighborhood. As time went by she saved up to buy a display case to arrange and display her wares and gradually her business became a general store that grew into what it is today. She sells a wide selection of clothes, footwear and miscellany in a sales point in her own house. Her dream is to continue consolidating so that her daughter can inherit it and perfect it.

She is currently requesting a Kiva loan, her first financing with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo that she’ll use to buy a display case to modernize her business and give it a better appearance; she will also buy merchandise to stock it and offer new items. Her experience and market potential insure this investment’s success.
