Megi's story

Megi is a 42-year-old teacher from the village of Pereta, West Georgia. She is married and lives with her husband, Tengiz, and two sons who are 19 and 16 years old. The elder son is a student and the younger one goes to school. Along with her main job, Megi is working on the family agricultural business. They own a small dairy farm with two milk cows. Megi produces cheese and sells it to local dairy products retailers. The family also owns a plot of land with 1,500 vine trees. Tengiz produces wine and vodka and to sell at the local market. Along with the vine trees, the family owns a plot of land where peach trees are grown. Megi sells harvested peaches at the local open market. The total average monthly income of the family is 700 Laris.

Megi is requesting a loan to purchase additional peach saplings. She will plant the purchased saplings on family owned land and harvest more peaches in two-three years, which will bring more income to the family. Megi will use the additional income for financing the education of her children.
